What If Edward Cullen Never Really Returned?

Today I am going to discuss what if Edward Cullen never returned to Bella Swan. SPOILER ALERT: This blog contains positive elements for Team Jacob. Beware, Team Edward!

Imagine that Bella was not interested in cliff jumping, or more specifically if she was involved in another life-threatening activity that did not make Alice believe that Bella took her own life. But Edward returning was very much possible even without this since he quoted this himself to Bella after returning from Italy:

"I'm not as strong as you give me credit for,"

he said. "Right and wrong have ceased to mean

much to me; I was coming back anyway. Before

Rosalie told me the news, I was already past

trying to live through one week at a time, or even one day. I was fighting to make it through a single hour. It was only a matter of time—and not much of it—before I showed up at your window and begged you to take me back. I'd be happy to beg now if you'd like that."-Edward Cullen (Credits: Stephenie Meyer)

But let us not get to that point. Let’s imagine that he forcefully restrained himself from returning for the sake of Bella. As per the story, she seeks comfort from her depression in her deepening friendship with Jacob Black, a cheerful companion who eases her pain over losing Edward. Sometime after losing Edward, Bella starts to enjoy Jacob's company and friendship.  But Jacob got physically emotional towards Bella. Bella, reluctant at first, realizes that she is in love with Jacob too, in ‘Eclipse’. But back to ‘New moon’, Jacob was about to kiss Bella, before getting interrupted by Edward’s phone call.

“Keeping his eyes on mine, Jacob began to bend his face toward me. And I was still absolutely undecided. The shrill ring of the phone made us both jump, but it did not break his focus. He took his hand from under my chin and reached over me to grab the receiver, but still held my face securely with the hand against my cheek. His dark eyes did not free mine. I was too muddled to react, even to take advantage of the distraction.”-Bella’s narrative (Credits: Stephenie Meyer)

Without this hindrance, Bella would be too confused to distract him and would have eventually kissed him back, making it their first kiss and accepting that she has feelings for Jacob, unhinged. She would have grudgingly been involved with Jacob at first. But, as time goes on, she would have gradually grasped the fact that Edward will no longer come for her, and she must progress in her life, atleast for the sake of her close-ones. She would have start loving Jacob delightfully, but this step would take a very very long time, maybe years, to get accomplished. She would gradually leave her life-threatening idiocy for hearing Edward’s voice, for Jacob’s sake. As Edward said, human memories fade. If everything went well, if she survived all her idiotic actions, Bella would end up with Jacob. Sorry Edward fans!

But coming to the story of Victoria, if the Cullens never returned to Folks, the werewolves would have found it very difficult to eliminate her. It would have been a tough competition between them, with a very minimal victory rate on both sides. Either, the werewolves would have killed Victoria with their joint and continuous effort, or Victoria would have killed Bella with a very clever master plan.

What do you think?
